This gourd is painted with white textured paint. The bear is made
of clay and a turquoise eye has been embedded. Around the neck of the gourd are turquoise nuggets.

Iridescent Vase
This small vase I call iridescent because it shimmers in both blues and greens, depending on how natural light strikes
it. The gourd was colored with cobalt blue ink. The natural configuration of the light spots of the gourd brought
out the lovely greens. The gourd is simple in its design, and the only embellishment is the variety of yarns circling
the opening of the vase. It is simple but also elegant. The vase is approximately 6" in diameter and stands 7"

The designs were pyroengraved into the gourd, then all three sections were carved out and inlaid
with tempered glass, tiny glass marbles and sand. The background of this gourd was accomplished with black ink.

Light Blue Painted
The Humming Bird vase is made from two gourds—the vase itself and the base. The design was
wood burned into the vase and then colored with acrylic paints and inks. The flower stems are inlaid with sand. The base is covered with sand. It measures 14” tall and 6” wide.

VB19 Black and Silver Webbed
This gourd bowl was first painted with black acrylic paint followed by silver webbing and then trimmed with gold leaf
and silver tiny glass marbles. The inside of the bowl is black with silver webbing.
This is a very light gourd. This bowl would look lovely with a flower arrangement
or potted plant in it sitting next to the accompanying ram’s horn (see Accent Piece 12).
The bowl is approximately 10" tall and 12" in diameter.

VB3 Ethnic Suspended Vase
The background of the gourd is done in oils; the figures were pyroengraved and then colored in inks, dyes,
and oils. Trim around the top of the vase is made of clay which has been textured and colored
with inks and dyes. The vase is suspended between two wooden rods wound with hemp and embedded in a slate
plate. This vase or accent piece stands approximately 10" tall and 6" wide.

This vase is
made from a canteen gourd set on
end. The background of
this piece has a primitive stone
look and texture and is
embellished with a two drapes
(one on each side) made of
stamped clay which is colored
with variegated metallic leafing
and metallic Pearl X powders.
The outside swirls are carved
into the gourd. This vase
will mold into any home decor.

There are three focal points to
this gourd vase: 1) my own
freeform teneriff design, 2) the
pyroengraved rock scene which is
finished with oils, inks,
acrylic paints, and metallic
leafing, and 3) the black inlaid
sand arrows surrounding the
metallic leafing bear claw. The
opening of the vase is
embellished with tiny turquoise
marbles. For the
